UHR very first coin worth MILLIONS
From Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins 1795-1933
Garrett and Guth 2005 2nd Edition The VERY First UHR “Pattern” Coins Page 544 1907,$20, Judd -1917 / Pollock -2007 This famous piece employs Augustus Saint-Gauden’s Extremely High relief design, on a planchet with the same diameter as a regular $10 eagle, but twice as thick. More than a dozen coins (20) were struck; all but two were melted. Those two examples were given to the MINT collection and today reside in the Smithsonian Institution. These coins were displayed in the Smithsonian’s “LEGENDARY COINS AND CURRENCY” exhibit. Note: these coins are included among the “100 Greatest U.S. Coins in Garrett and Guth’s 2005 book. It has an edge device that is the same as Judd 1773 / Pollock 1992. ************************************************** ***** HS note: Our current 2009 UHR is an exact copy of this pattern coin. This is why I think that the UHR 2009 Coin is something to keep. The above coins if sold would probably bring in millions of US dollars. Millions. http://coins.about.com/od/uscoins/a/uhrde_timeline.htm |
